Call for Photos: ANU’s 2018 Anthropology Photography Exhibition (Due 2 July 2018)

The Call for Photos is now open for the 2018 Anthropology Photography Exhibition. We are accepting submissions from ANU anthropology postgraduate students and staff members.
Submissions can be emailed to anthropologyanu@gmail.com or uploaded via this dropbox link<https://www.dropbox.com/request/zTgqruoLr0wITke0bdIH> and must be made by Monday 2 July, 2018.
Theme
The 2018 anthropology photography exhibition will be an exploration of sensory ethnography with a particular focus on Colour. We are inviting contributors to consider colour as it relates to their fieldwork experiences and/or a particular research project. Is there a colour or range of colours that you associate with your fieldwork site? What colours invoke a memory, emotion, or relationship to a particular place or person? Did colour have metaphoric, symbolic or semiotic meaning during your fieldwork: did colour ‘say’ something in specific contexts? Was colour an important element in cultural or social activities, events or traditions? How were colours used in a phenomenological sense, perhaps on bodies or other materials during, for example, ceremonies, funerals, or informal occasions?
What we want from you
* Two photographs from your fieldwork that work together as a pair to illustrate the theme of the exhibition*
* A 150-300-word exegesis on your images that ties them to the exhibition theme (please include your name and the location at which your photographs were taken)
* Specs: photographs can be landscape or portrait or a mixture but must be sized at 400x600mm and 300 DPI resolution. TIFF files are preferred but JPEG will also be accepted
*If you can’t choose two images please contact the curator Annette Liu (annetteliu24@gmail.com<mailto:annetteliu24@gmail.com>) to discuss alternatives – within wall space and budget constraints we will consider accepting just one image, or even a series of three if they work well together.
